Grommet Insertion
Grommets are often called ear tubes.
Grommets may be recommended if your child has glue ear that won’t clear up, or frequent ear infections.Grommets, also called tympanostomy or ventilation tubes.Tiny plastic tubes which are inserted into a small slit in your child’s ear drum.It can be caused by ear infections, cigarette smoke or allergies
Benefits of Grommets:
- Allows the aeration of the middle ear and this helps restore the lining of the middle ear back to health.
- Enables mucous and fluid to drain down the Eustachian tube
- Improvement in hearing where hearing loss is due to middle ear fluid.
- Reduction in frequency of ear infections.
